About Me
HI,
My name is Lana Junaid Mahmoud.
I am a Special Education teacher by profession and therefore through my experience in High School, Middle school and Elementary was able to support students in Math, Science and English. As a Special Education teacher, my aim is to increase a student’s self-confidence first and then give each student the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
During my experiences, I have gained the ability to modify lessons and provide accommodations for all my students, including those not receiving special education services, to further enhance their educational experience. I have also had experience observing and testing students to gauge their strengths and areas for improvement in order to write a program for them that is geared to their needs.
I have worked abroad in several countries, Lebanon, Jordan, Malawi, Thailand and Tanzania. Working abroad gave me a chance to grow both professionally and intellectually. It provided me with the opportunity to discover different and interesting cultures and introduced me to a variety of teaching methods that may enhance and add to my own methods. Teaching students from several cultural and educational backgrounds also added to my belief that all students are able to achieve and are capable of anything if only they were given the proper skills to do so.
Working online for the past two years has given me the chance to work with students of different age groups; adults and children. Each of my students is taught according to their learning style and their goals. Many just want help with their conversation skills which involves listening skills, vocabulary and grammar, some need support with their writing and essays, others need support with their reading and comprehension skills, while others need support with their Math, Science, History and English homework and curriculum.Whatever their need is, I have many resources to consult and knowledge to help. Having a Special Education background provided me with a wide range of skills and strategies to help students in different areas of their professional and academic careers. Through a caring personal environment at Nabu, I would like to inspire growth, nurture individual excellence and enrich lives. * I also have a blog where I throw my opinions and experiences on paper. You can find it @: https://lanakhaznachi.blogspot.com/
